“The central government is already cutting spending. If in addition to that they privatize, it is to try and make healthcare profitable. We are against that,” said Jose, an internal medicine specialist at a major hospital in Madrid.

The Spanish government remains adamant that austerity measures are needed to carry it through the financial crisis.
